Day 1 & 2
Montaione. Meet in Florence and shuttle to Montaione. Our first taste of biking
in Tuscany rambles over Sienese hills. We'll stop in Castelfiorentino and
explore the hill town of San Miniato, renowned for historic monuments and
frotresses.
Day 3 & 4
San Gimignano. The famous 12th century bell towers of San Gimignano welcome
us to an inviting medival village. In acient Volterra, discover one of Italy's
finest collections of Etruscan atifacts.
Day 5 & 6
Siena. Enjoy a cappuccino within the walled village of Monteriggioni en route
to Siena, whose early history dates to the 1st century B.C. Sample fine wines
from the region and bike into the heart of Chianti Classico region, where
some of Italy's finest wines are produced.
Day 7 & 9
Sinalunga in rural southern Tuscany, take in quaint Asciano, smaple local
pecorino and ricotta cheeses in Pienza and picnic in Montepulciano, the highest
of Italy's hill towns and well endowed with Renaissance art and arcitecture.
Toast farewell to Tuscany with prestigious Brunello di Montalcino. Bike to
the village of Trequanda or relax the morning away before a midday shuttle
to Chiusi.
