Walking in Switzerland Switzerland is one of the best countries in the world for walking. This tour explores her southeastern corner, known for its beautiful scenery and its proximity to the Swiss National Park, a real wilderness. Although the main area covered is, in reality, quitr small, each days walk is a very different experience. The tour begins in Zuoz, the best-preserved village of the Upper Engadine, with magnificent 16th and 17th century patrician houses, and ends in the emerald-green valleys of Sils. In this Romantsch part of the country, tradition plays an important role, and as you travel through wildflower-filled meadows and villages encircled by snow-capped mountains, listening to church bells and bubbling streams, childhood memories of the "Heidi" stories will come to mind, as will absolute peace. There are ample opportunities for more challenging independent walks.
